Andrea Belotti has completed a loan move to Benfica for the remainder of the season, as the experienced Italian striker looks to rediscover his goalscoring form in Lisbon.
The 31-year-old forward, currently under contract with Como, has struggled for goals in recent years. In his last 100 appearances in Serie A, he has managed just 16 goals. However, Benfica believe he can still make an impact.
Benfica confirmed the signing, stating that Belotti will be part of their squad until the end of the season. The move offers the striker a fresh opportunity to prove himself at a top European club.
Belotti made his name at Torino, where he scored 113 goals in 251 matches, but he has struggled to replicate that form elsewhere.
The Lisbon giants are currently second in the Portuguese league, trailing leaders Sporting by six points. However, recent performances have been inconsistent, with two wins and three defeats in their last five matches.
Belotti becomes Benfica’s second winter signing, following the arrival of 23-year-old defensive midfielder Manu, who joined for a €12 million fee.
