Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger are both avoiding any mention of their wedding year on social media, sending a clear public signal that their relationship truly belongs to the past.
The end of the marriage between Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger shocked fans around the world. Although the former tennis star and the World Cup winner spent many years together and have three sons, it is now clear that both want to close that chapter completely.
Ana Ivanovic, now 38, recently joined a popular social media trend and shared a series of photos from 2016 on Instagram. The year was full of important moments in her life, both personally and professionally.
The post includes pictures from tennis courts, beaches and travels, a mix of sporting and private memories. What is striking, however, is what is not there.
There is not a single photo of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
This omission is particularly symbolic because 2016 was the year they got married. Their wedding in July of that year was one of the most high-profile sporting celebrity events in Europe, celebrated in Venice and followed by media all over the world.
At the time, Ana and Bastian regularly shared photos together and were seen as one of the most iconic sports couples in Europe. Today, those memories appear to have been deliberately left out.
Interestingly, Schweinsteiger, 41, has done something very similar. He also looked back at 2016 on social media, posting photos with Thomas Müller, Wayne Rooney and childhood friend Felix Neureuther.
Once again, there was no sign of Ana Ivanovic.
The mutual silence speaks louder than any statement. Both have clearly chosen to separate their present from their shared past, at least in the public eye.
Despite everything, their years together were significant. Last November, Ivanovic spoke openly about her life goals:
"Of course, I wanted to have my own family and children. That was always a dream of mine."
That dream did come true. But today, it seems both Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger are looking forward, not back.
