Ajax ended their losing streak against Feyenoord with a 2-0 victory, thanks in part to an assist from 40-year-old goalkeeper Remko Pasveer.
In the Dutch Eredivisie’s marquee rivalry, Ajax defeated Feyenoord 2-0 away, snapping a two-game losing streak against their biggest rivals. Feyenoord had won the last two derbies with a crushing 10-0 aggregate score and entered the game as the favorite after five straight wins in October.
The match took an unexpected turn in the 6th minute when Ajax’s 40-year-old goalkeeper Remko Pasveer launched a long ball to teammate Kenneth Taylor. Feyenoord’s goalkeeper misjudged the ball and rushed out of the box, leaving Taylor free to slot it in for 1-0, with Pasveer credited with the assist.
Ajax doubled their lead in the 25th minute through Jorrell Hato, another graduate of Ajax’s renowned academy. This game also marked the first Dutch derby for In-Beom Hwang, who joined Feyenoord from Red Star but was unable to secure a win despite being the standout player for the hosts.
