Abdukodir Khusanov, a 20-year-old defensive talent, is set to make history as the first player from Uzbekistan to play in the Premier League.

Although Manchester City has yet to officially announce the deal, photos of Khusanov posing with coach Pep Guardiola have already surfaced online, confirming his imminent move.

Khusanov, a versatile defender, arrives from French club Lens after a series of impressive performances that caught the attention of top European clubs, including Real Madrid. He has also earned 18 caps for the Uzbekistan national team under Slovenian coach Srečko Katanec, who gave him his first opportunity at the senior level.

The transfer fee for Khusanov is expected to be at least €40 million, with additional bonuses potentially pushing the total higher. Reports indicate he will wear the number 45 jersey for the defending Premier League champions.

Khusanov’s signing is part of a significant winter transfer window for Manchester City, with the club also adding Omar Marmoush and Vitor Reis to their ranks. In total, City is spending nearly €200 million on reinforcements to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Khusanov’s move not only marks a milestone for Uzbek football but also highlights Guardiola’s commitment to developing young, versatile talents. Fans are eager to see how the defender adapts to City’s high standards and competitive environment.
