Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit voiced concerns over Kylian Mbappe’s struggles at Real Madrid, citing a lack of friends, media scrutiny, and diminished on-field performance.
Emmanuel Petit, the former France international, has raised alarms about Kylian Mbappe’s current situation at Real Madrid. Petit described Mbappe as “lonely” at his new club, pointing to strained relationships with teammates and a dip in form as signs of his unhappiness in Spain.
Mbappe’s struggles since Madrid move
Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer with sky-high expectations following his stellar achievements with PSG and the French national team. However, the 24-year-old has struggled to replicate his form, scoring just 10 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions. Reports from Spain suggest that Mbappe has failed to bond with his teammates, with one incident involving Jude Bellingham reportedly ignoring him in the tunnel at Anfield adding to the speculation.
Petit shared his thoughts in an interview with Gambling Zone: “I think Kylian Mbappe is so lonely at Real Madrid. I saw Jude Bellingham ignoring him, and it doesn’t even look like he has any help or any friends at the club.”
Media scrutiny and fallout with France
Adding to his club struggles, Mbappe’s relationship with the French national team has also taken a hit. After being excluded by manager Didier Deschamps for the November internationals, his standing in France has suffered. Petit highlighted how this has impacted the player: “He’s been hammered by the press, doesn’t seem to have friends in Paris or Spain, and has become public enemy number one in France because of what happened in the last international break.”
Mbappe’s diminished performances on the pitch have further drawn criticism. Petit continued: “He’s far from his level this season. Yes, he’s scored ten goals, but it’s just stats—he doesn’t look like himself. He was the king in France, but now it’s not the same anymore.”
Mbappe vows to bounce back
After missing a crucial penalty in Real Madrid’s disappointing result against Athletic Club, Mbappe took to Instagram to address his struggles. “Bad result. A big mistake in a match where every detail counts. I take full responsibility. A difficult moment, but it’s the best time to change this situation and show who I am,” he wrote.
Real Madrid fans will hope Mbappe can turn things around, with a tough away fixture against Girona looming on Saturday, December 7. Despite his struggles, Los Blancos remain confident in his ability to rise above adversity and regain his best form.
