In a dramatic turn of events, 32-year-old Serbian goalkeeper Miloje Preković became the unlikely hero for Swedish club Osters during their recent match against Vasteras.
Preković, who has had a journeyman career across various Serbian clubs, scored a last-minute header to secure a 2:2 draw for his team.
Preković, who has previously played for Serbian clubs like Voždovac, OFK Beograd, and Inđija, made headlines when he ventured into Vasteras' penalty area during the 96th minute of the match. Mirroring the style of Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović, Preković executed a perfect header to level the score and snatch a point for Osters.
After the match, an ecstatic Preković admitted that this was the first goal of his professional career. "It's a moment I'll never forget," said the goalkeeper, who has also had stints with Mladenovac, Košice, Mladost Lučani, Sloga from Kraljevo, and Yenisei.
The last-minute heroics from Preković have not only earned him a spot in the limelight but also provided a much-needed morale boost for Osters. "It's not just about the point; it's about the spirit and the fight we showed," commented Preković, emphasizing the significance of his goal beyond the scoreboard.
As the football world continues to digest this extraordinary feat, Miloje Preković's last-minute goal serves as a testament to the unpredictability and excitement that the sport can offer. Whether this will mark a turning point in Preković's career or serve as a one-off moment of glory remains to be seen.
