Former patron of Ljubljana's Olimpija, Milan Mandarić, is interested in taking over Gorica.
Milan Mandarić hasn't had his final say in Slovenian football yet! After parting ways with Olimpija, the Serbian-American businessman, who succeeded in the USA and also holds an American passport, is eyeing a takeover of Gorica! The club could use an investor right now, having been relegated to the second league, and after the fiasco with Georg Juncaj, the financial situation at the club is quite challenging.
Sources close to the club have clearly confirmed that Mandarić had a meeting in Nova Gorica. He's interested in taking over the club, which naturally wants to return to the first league. At the same time, the club from Nova Gorica aims to strengthen its youth academy, which was a real talent factory decades ago.
Gorica desperately needs money at the moment, but the question is whether they will get it from Mandarić. After all, he is already 85 years old, so he cannot be a long-term solution for Gorica. We also learned that the club is currently in talks with several other potential investors.
