Captain of the Croatian national football team, Luka Modrić, once again demonstrated at Rujevica that age doesn't affect him much and he continues to play at an elite level.
Luka Modrić led Croatia last night in a crucial continuation of the qualifiers against Latvia. The team's seriousness from the start was decisive in this match.
"We really started the match well, as we had agreed. Sometimes things can get complicated, but today, from the first minute, everything went as it should. We could have scored even more goals. Now we need to prepare well for Armenia."
Luka recalls the previous match against Armenia.
"We've already played a friendly with them. They are a good and combative team, quite tricky. They have seven points, which says a lot. However, I believe we can get all three points."
This year, Modrić is once again nominated for the Ballon d'Or, making it among the top 30 players.
"I'm pleased to be nominated, happy for Joško; he deserves it, and also for Livio. It's been a fantastic season, and this is great for Croatian football. It shows we're doing well."
Luka remained committed to the national team and had no doubts about it.
"I had no doubts. I didn't want much discussion around it and to disturb the peace in the team. I knew I wanted to continue, and I had decided that even before the Nations League. I feel good, and as long as that's the case, why not? We'll see how long it lasts."
He also plans to stay for the European Championship next year.
"The plan is to be in Germany, but at this age, it's hard to plan too much."
