Yesterday, Bonifika in Koper welcomed a special guest, with all eyes on the superstar coach of the French U21 team, Thierry Henry.
Koper is not accustomed to visits of such magnitude as witnessed yesterday when the star-studded French U21 team played at Bonifika. The team's biggest star is coach Thierry Henry, who took over the young national team ahead of the qualifying cycle. The legendary Arsenal and Barcelona striker delighted local fans after the match by signing several autographs and posing for photos with the thrilled crowd.
After the game, Henry spent a long time chatting with representatives of the French media. He also responded to a question from the Slovenian side, sharing his perspective on the match in Slovenia.
"In the first half, we lost the ball several times, allowing you counter-attacks. When we started passing better and more accurately, the game became very challenging for your wingers," Henry said.
"When you work as a team, success often doesn't come immediately but later. It's like boxing - you wait and then strike. If you lose the ball, you can't build, and that's precisely how you got your first opportunity. After that, you know how it is. It becomes tough, people start to believe..."
"When we put the ball on the ground and started playing, all the magic came out from our players. The first half was very challenging. However, we had a plan, and it worked," Henry concluded.
