Neymar's much-anticipated debut in the Saudi Pro League took an unexpected turn when he was denied a penalty kick opportunity.
After transferring from Paris Saint-Germain to Al Hilal for a staggering £77.6 million earlier this summer, Neymar made his first appearance on 15 September, substituting in during the 64th minute.
While he managed an assist, a significant moment came in the 87th minute when Al Hilal was awarded a penalty.
Neymar, ready to take the shot, was replaced by club icon Salem Al-Dawsari. Despite Al-Dawsari's 223 appearances for the club, fans at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium expressed their disappointment with audible boos.
Al-Dawsari, unfazed, scored the penalty and another goal later, leading Al Hilal to a 6-1 victory. The incident has since become a hot topic on social media platforms.
