Ivan Perišić sustained a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee.
The Croatian national team player suffered the injury during a non-contact training session and will soon undergo surgery, as reported by Tottenham on their official channels. Tottenham announced that Perišić will be out for the remainder of the current season.
This season, Perišić has made six appearances for the Spurs, mostly coming off the bench. He accumulated 169 minutes and provided two assists. For the Croatian national team, he played 180 minutes in matches against Latvia (5:0) and Armenia (1:0), registering two assists. In recent months, Perišić has been linked with a return to Hajduk, and his contract with the English club expires in June 2024.
"The brilliant winger of the Croatian team injured his knee towards the end of the training session he had with Tottenham on Tuesday. Subsequent examinations revealed it to be a severe injury involving the anterior cruciate ligament. Perišić now faces surgery, followed by several months of recovery.
The medical service of the Croatian national team is in contact with Perišić and Tottenham's doctors. Messages of support for Perišić have been sent by the president of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS), Marijan Kustić, and coach Zlatko Dalić," states the HNS website.
