Nikola Medojević, touted as Montenegro's biggest football talent, has signed a three-year contract with Croatian club Rijeka.
Nikola Medojević (18) is the new player for Rijeka, announced by the Croatian first league club. The Montenegrin midfielder signed a three-year contract and joined Rijeka's youth team, scoring and assisting in his debut against Varaždin (2:3). Until he was 17, he played for Montenegro's Budućnost, and at 16, he was added to the first team. He spent his senior season at Mladost DG, where, as the youngest in the league, he scored three goals and added six assists.
Medojević has been a member of all younger Montenegrin national teams and was the captain of the cadets and juniors. Rijeka claims he is the "biggest talent" of Montenegro, wearing number 10 for the U-20 national team. In victories against France (2:0) and Hungary (4:0), he totaled three assists.
"I am very happy to have come to Rijeka. I know what Rijeka represents in Croatian terms and beyond. I feel great in Rijeka and have all the conditions to progress."
"I had offers from other clubs, but I chose Rijeka, and I believe I made the right choice, and my decision will prove correct. I watched the match against Lille and Osijek and witnessed the fantastic atmosphere everyone talks about.
I can't wait to experience it on the field. We'll take it step by step, and it's up to me to earn my minutes on the pitch. I came here to progress, but I also have a strong desire to win trophies with Rijeka one day," Medojević said for the club's official website.
