Lyon's troubles seem endless. Following a dismal start to the new season, Laurent Blanc was left jobless, and no one seems willing to pick up where Blanc left off.
For years, Lyon consistently dominated the French Ligue 1, establishing itself as the country's premier club. However, recent years have seen a significant decline in their performance, relegating them to mid-table obscurity. This perspective is apparently shared by Austrian coach Oliver Glasner, who swiftly declined an offer to manage the team. The former Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg manager doesn't see a promising future in leading the current Lyon side.
After reviewing their first four league matches of the new season, Glasner quickly concluded that he wouldn't be able to make a significant impact given the current circumstances. He politely declined the offer, leaving Lyon's search for a new manager ongoing. Laurent Blanc, who was recently dismissed, also seemed to quickly lose faith in the team, suggesting a forgettable season lies ahead for the struggling Lyon. So, the question remains: Who will step up to save Lyon?
Currently, they sit at the very bottom of the Ligue 1 table, having recorded three losses and a draw in their opening four matches.
