Manchester City is in the forefront to secure the services of young left-back Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors.
Multiple source indicate that City faces competition from Brighton and Hove Albion and Juventus for the 19-year-old. Barco, already recognized as one of Argentina's top full-backs, has earned two caps for the Argentina U-20 team.
Manchester City boasts a successful history with Argentinian players, with names like Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, and Carlos Tevez marking significant contributions in recent years. While Barco primarily plays as a left-back, he has showcased his adaptability by also taking roles as a left wing-back and left-winger.
Brighton, known for valuing versatility in players, has maintained a positive rapport with Boca Juniors, especially after the loan transfer of Alexis Mac Allister in 2019.
However, it's the Citizens who seem to have the upper hand in this transfer saga. Following negotiations during the summer transfer window's conclusion, City is optimistic about finalizing Barco's acquisition in the upcoming January window by meeting the $10m buyout clause in his contract.
