Red Star Belgrade is close to signing 23-year-old French forward Wilson Isidor from Lokomotiv Moscow, aiming to strengthen their attack ahead of the Champions League group stage.
The Serbian champions have been in dire need of a striker, and Isidor appears to be the answer to their woes.
According to a statement from Lokomotiv Moscow, Isidor has returned to the Russian capital to finalize the transfer, which is "nearing completion." The deal is expected to be a one-year loan with an option for a permanent move, pending medical examinations.
"Wilson Isidor has returned to Moscow to undergo medical examinations, as an offer that satisfies both the player and the club is imminent," the Russian club announced.
The timing is crucial for Red Star, who have until midnight on September 4 to submit their player list for the Champions League group stage. With the European transfer window closing on September 1, the clock is ticking for the Serbian giants to complete the deal.
Isidor's potential move comes on the heels of a strong performance in the Russian Premier League, adding to the optimism at Marakana Stadium as Red Star prepares for European competition.
