Juventus FC is reportedly in a state of high alert following comments made by Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrović, suggesting that his national teammate Dušan Vlahović is considering a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
The Turin-based club is now scrambling to secure Vlahović's future, according to Italian media sources.
Aleksandar Mitrović, who recently transferred to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, has been in sensational form, earning a reported €25 million per season. In a recent interview, Mitrović advised Vlahović to consider a move to the Middle East, describing life in Riyadh as "warm, sunny, and wealthy."
In response to Mitrović's comments, Juventus executives have scheduled an urgent meeting with Vlahović to discuss his future at the club. The Serbian striker, who has scored four goals at the start of the new Serie A season, has been a key player for the "Old Lady," especially as the club is not participating in any European competitions this year due to sanctions.
Juventus is reportedly keen to extend Vlahović's contract by an additional year, through 2028, in an attempt to ward off interest from other clubs. The new contract is expected to include a significant salary increase, reflecting his importance to the team.
Despite facing financial difficulties, Juventus had initially considered selling Vlahović this summer. However, the striker insisted on staying with the club, complicating the financial planning for the Serie A giants.
The outcome of the meeting between Vlahović and Juventus executives could have far-reaching implications for both the player and the club, as they navigate a challenging season both on and off the pitch.
