Young Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has had a fantastic start to the new season, where it seems he will dazzle in Bayer Leverkusen's attack.
Victor Boniface is a player who defied the norm and quickly rose from complete obscurity to a forward being compared to Robert Lewandowski and Erling Braut Haaland in Germany.
Boniface left his native Nigeria at the age of 19, where he wasn't considered exceptionally talented, having not earned a single appearance for any youth selection. His potential was recognized by Bodo Glimt, and after an impressive start to his European adventure, he soon found himself at one of the recent sensation of Belgian football, Union Saint Gilloise.
His meteoric rise continued in Belgium, and after a splendid season, Bayer Leverkusen lured him to their ranks in July. It appears they hit the jackpot with him.
In his first five appearances wearing Leverkusen's jersey, Boniface has scored five goals and provided two assists. Today, he shone in a resounding victory against Darmstadt with a score of 5-1, where he netted two goals and contributed an assist.
In his first three Bundesliga appearances, 22-year-old Boniface has already scored four goals. Such a prolific start has only been achieved by two newcomers in German football in the last twenty years – Spaniard Paco Alcacer in 2018 and Erling Braut Haaland in 2020.
