The young career of Barcelona's future striker, Vitor Roque, faced its first major setback yesterday.
Barcelona had hoped that the 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque would join the Catalan giants in January. However, recent reports from Brazil suggest that Barcelona might not have any reason to rush with the talented Brazilian, who has suffered the first serious injury of his career.
During a clash with a player from Internacional of Porto Alegre, Vitor Roque sustained a severe injury, which, according to initial forecasts from Brazilian media, will sideline him for at least three months.
Roque fell awkwardly during the challenge and was stretchered off the pitch in evident pain. The images were far from encouraging, and both Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense are awaiting more detailed information on the extent of his injury.
Vitor Roque is considered one of the most talented and promising young strikers in the world. This season, wearing the Athletico Paranaense jersey, he scored an impressive 20 goals in 42 matches. During the summer transfer window, he already agreed to a move to Barcelona, which paid a compensation of 40 million euros for him.
