In a somber aftermath to what was an intense football match, an Aston Villa supporter tragically lost his life after falling from the Lazienkovski Bridge in Warsaw.
The incident occurred shortly after the Conference League clash between Legia Warsaw and Aston Villa at the Pepsi Arena.
The victim, a 42-year-old male, was reportedly trying to bypass a queue when he jumped over protective barriers. In a harrowing turn of events, he attempted to leap from one viaduct to another, unfortunately slipping in the process. Emergency services were quick to the scene, but despite their best efforts, the individual succumbed to his injuries.
The match itself was a nail-biter, with Legia Warsaw narrowly edging out Aston Villa 3:2. However, the game's result has been overshadowed by the tragic incident, casting a somber mood over what was supposed to be a celebration of football.
