Dutch giants Ajax are leading the race to sign 17-year-old Venezuelan wonderkid David Martinez.
According to Voetbal International, the winger, hailed as the biggest talent from Venezuela, is expected to make the move to Amsterdam next year when he turns eighteen. The transfer fee Ajax would pay remains undisclosed.
Currently, Martinez is 17 years old and plays for Venezuelan club Monagas SC. The right-winger has been a part of the first team, making eight appearances this season. Mostly coming on as a substitute, he has managed to score once and provide an assist in the Liga FUTVE.
In total, Martinez has played 38 times for his club, scoring six goals and assisting five. Last season, he found the net in a Copa Libertadores match. He scored a crucial goal against Deportivo Pereira, although his team lost 2-1.
Voetbal International reports that Ajax aims to finalize the deal swiftly, potentially outbidding other major European clubs for Martinez's signature.
However, Martinez won't immediately move to Amsterdam. He will officially join Ajax once he turns eighteen. He currently has a contract with his club until mid-2025.
